18 Year Old killed in Single-Car Accident | Baton Rouge Auto Accident Lawyer

An 18- year old woman was killed in a single car crash last Sunday night when she lost control of her vehicle, veered off the roadway and hit a tree. The crash occurred on Louisiana 37 in East Baton Rouge Parish. Police do not believe she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation. The victim was not wearing her seat belt and suffered fatal injuries, authorities said.

Unfortunately, one of the leading causes of death among teenagers is motor vehicle crashes. Among the most high risk drivers include male teens, teens driving with other teens as passengers, and teens who have just received their driver’s license. Statistics show that speeding, driver distraction and alcohol are contributing factors in the majority of teen crashes. Teens are also less likely to wear their seat belts, which leads to an increased number of injuries and fatalities among teens in car crashes. That is why it is so important to make sure your teens buckle up whenever they get into a motor vehicle. Observing seat belt laws can help prevent tragedy in the event of a car accident.
